“I am delighted that former Speaker of the US House Newt Gingrich took the time to come to Eastern North Carolina to campaign for my reelection,” stated Congressman Walter Jones. “Newt Gingrich is one of the great conservative leaders of our time -- and a man that I am proud to call my friend.”

Jones further stated, “Under Speaker Gingrich’s leadership we balanced the budget and reformed the welfare system. I am still committed to those principals that Newt laid out in 1994. I am convinced -- now more than ever -- that we need a balanced budget and less taxes for the working families of this country.”

Jones continued, “I also believe -- as Speaker Gingrich believes -- that we must secure our borders and that no one should be rewarded for coming to this country illegally. I believe border security is national security and, with the constant threat to this country of Islamic terrorism, that it is imperative that we know who is coming into the United States.”

Jones concluded, “I was honored that so many of my friends came from across Eastern North Carolina to help in my reelection effort and I am thankful for the moral and financial support that I have received.”
